An All-American Evening…Beads and Bling – It’s a Mardi Gras Thing

309 tickets were sold for this successful event that included fun, food, auctions, and entertainment at the Dayton Masonic Center (moved from the National Museum of the U. S. Air Force due to COVID restrictions). Attendees participated in a silent auction of art, jewelry, event tickets, sporting items and much more. Dan Edwards served as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening and a gourmet meal was catered by Elite Catering. There was also a Heads-or-Tails game, a themed costume contest and wine tasting. Professional auctioneer Doug Sorrell conducted the live auction. This year’s event raised a record-breaking $135,347.77 (after expenses) for the benefit of the Wright-Patterson and Dayton VA Medical Center Fisher Houses (and has raised $1,370,547.33 after expenses since it started in September 2004). Publicity took place on Dayton Access TV (DATV), the Mix 107.7 radio station, WDTN’s “Living Dayton,”,WDTN’s “Five on 2,” “ABC22/Fox45 in the Morning,” an interview on WHIO and Dayton Access TV.

NOTE: The impact of COVID-19 on fundraisers in 2020 had a significant impact upon our organization. With the loss of eighteen fundraisers in 2020 (and a loss of more than $156,000 in income – as compared to the same events/income in 2019), it was a year of resourcefulness and perseverance. 2020 showed us that while we are distanced from each other, we were still able to come together to make a difference!
